The China Story

The history of China’s cultural past is well documented from its origins over 5000 years BC. Her industrial and commercial history is much younger by comparison with last the 20 years seeing its meteoric rise towards becoming one of the leading economies in the world.

It is predicted that within the next 10 years the Chinese economy will be the world’s richest economy. China’s growth has been underpinned by continuous re-investment in all levels of industry and importantly infrastructure to enable China’s manufacturer’s access to markets not only within her homeland but on a global level. This aggressive investment program continues to keep China at the forefront of large scale manufacturing but also has developed a broad range of engineering capabilities which have supported our growth here in GMS.

Our association with China goes back many years with members of our European team having vast experience in both living, working and trading within China. Within GMS we have continually developed our engineering relationships with our trading partners which has enabled us to manage the supply chains of some of the world’s leading manufacturing brands. Through our long involvement with the Far East market place we have developed our own network of offices which support our numerous activities in this world leading arena.

Offices in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo and Dalian have been established with a broad range of engineering and commercial skills. Our colleagues operating from these facilities have gained considerable experience in identifying and developing our existing supply base together with introducing new suppliers to our trading arena. In addition our own central logistics centre helps facilitate and transport a wide variety of components and assembly’s to all international markets.

Our knowledge and experience of working with Chinese colleagues and partners has enabled GMS to work with some of the world’s leading manufacturers in their given sectors, supporting them in a wide range of opportunities from product rationalisation, modern material utilisation and significant cost reductions. The GMS footprint in China has enabled our customers to increase efficiencies, reduce stock levels, and improve operating margins allowing them to invest in their products to create a market edge.

Let GMS show your organisation the way to increased profitability.
